How it works

You get an AI Captain
We ship the device to you. Mount it where the solar panel sees daylight – no electrician, no wiring. Scan the QR code and your boat is online within minutes.

Your boat goes live
You set the price, the hours it can be rented and where it is moored. It then appears on the map at bowter.com alongside our other boats.

You start earning
We take the booking, handle the payment and talk to the renter. You follow everything in the app and get the money paid into your account.
How we share the revenue
The minimum replaces the commission – they are never added together. Rent out for 200 EUR in a month and you pay 40 EUR, nothing more.

You control the calendar
You choose which days and hours the boat is available. The rest of the time it is yours as usual.
You set the price
You decide what it costs to rent your boat, and you can change it whenever you like.
You see where the boat is
Real-time GPS, battery level and an alert if someone boards while the boat is not rented.
You can set limits
Geofencing lets you decide how far the renter may go. If the boat leaves the area, both you and we know immediately.
Common questions
What does it cost to join?
Nothing to get started. We take 20 % of every rental, with a minimum of 7 EUR per month. The minimum replaces the commission in quiet months – it is never added on top.
What does the AI Captain device cost?
Nothing. The device is included for as long as the agreement runs. It remains the property of Bowter and is returned if you stop renting out.
Who is liable if the boat is damaged?
Your own boat insurance applies as usual, and the renter is liable for damage caused during the rental under the owner agreement. We help with the evidence from AI Captain – position, speed and when someone boarded. Check with your insurer that renting out is covered by your policy before you start.
Do I have to be there when someone rents?
No. The renter unlocks the boat with the app, and AI Captain handles both access and monitoring. You never hand over any keys.
Who deals with the renter?
We do. Booking, payment, questions before the trip and support during it are all handled by us. No phone calls and no arguments about money.
Can I still use the boat myself?
Yes. Block the times you want the boat yourself and it cannot be booked. Many owners list only weekdays, or the weeks they are away anyway.
When do I get paid?
We collect the renter's payment and pay out your share monthly to the account you give us. Every booking and what it earned is visible in the app.
Does it have to be an electric boat?
No. AI Captain works equally well with electric motors, petrol outboards and inboard diesels, and requires no modification to the boat.
How do I end the agreement?
You can cancel at any time with one month's notice. Bookings already made are honoured, after which you return the AI Captain device.
